As someone who works at the Gabba, it definitely needs to be upgraded and fixed. The problem is that there are too many people on either side of the political aisle using this as a means to their political ends, as opposed to what is best for the whole of the population.

Just build the fucking thing. That’s what the majority of us want. The Lions need a better home, Cricket Australia is actively moving away from the Gabba being the opener to the summer, and the area is set up to thrive when the CRR is finished. The fact that a bunch of NIMBYs have created such a mess is astounding to me.
Okay sure, the evaluation given when it was proposed was from thin air that’s fine, I can live with that but Brisbane residents actively trying to this city the same way forever is just tiresome.

Just build a new arena at Victoria Park, demolish the Gabba, and turn it into a public park to make up for the land taken up by the stadium.

Would be better to build a replacement on a different site where you could build a stadium that is at least 60K then turn the current gabba site into a 20K rectangular stadium
