I am from Eastern Europe, from an EU- and NATO-member country. I see Armenia making important moves towards West, but these steps seem to be poor coordinated under Mr. Pashinyan administration.
Armenians have an ancient, effective and well-known European diaspora. If the Western membership is to become a solid reality, I think the help of some well-known and effective diaspora personalities will speed up the process.
One of most known politicians of Armenian origin in the united Europe is https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Varujan_Vosganian, a former minister in my country.
What is your opinion on him and on employing several diaspora personalities in order to make the eurounionalization of Armenia more smooth and faster? I think people like Mr. Vosganian have the advatageous knowledge and experience in dealing with European institutions from within, i.e. from the position of an Eurounional political man, unlike the present-day govt of Armenia.Thank you.

I am not educated enough regarding this topic to comment, however from an observer point of view, doing everything fast may seem like a forced decision to the people, and I feel like it will make them intuitively against westernization, just because it happens too fast. Just my opinion again, I don’t know shit.

I absolutely agree and I think that our Diaspora is very under-utilized in that sense. The current government seems to have shut down every communication with the Diaspora because of negative attitudes against the ARF. But they seem to forget that not everyone in the West is an ARF party member. Or maybe it’s just the fear of partnering with people who are more competent than them, because our current government is absolutely incompetent at almost everything.

if Armenia becomes EU member I expect large influx of diaspora coming back for sweet schengen free visa
Imo if Armenia joined Nato prepare for russian Invasion sorry to be very cruel but thats the reality but an eu member would be more acceptable.
Armenia has no hope of joining NATO. Turkey would veto it.
Process of joining EU and Nato is very slow. Likely will never happen. But talks will continue for many years
The issue is that Mr. Pashinyan really doesn’t like diaspora Armenians, particularly members of ARF. It’s sad, but the efforts of people like Zareh Sinanyan has met a lot of resistance from both sides bc of things digress into petty politics.
It’s really hard to think from this point of view. Even if we become a candidate for the EU, it’s take years or maybe even decades before we actually a EU country.
I’m a diasporan. I love Armenia and visit often. I have learned it is one thing to love Armenia and another thing to be a citizen of a modern republic. These two are not the same. In general diasporans (excluding the ones who are citizens still but live oversees) should support AR anyway possible and if they are not living in Armenia then respectfully stay out of political landscape.
People like him can be advisors or consultants but the decisions remain with the citizens of AR.
