The state is raising awareness about efforts to address climate change and its bringing its public education campaign to Kauaʻi this weekend for the first time.
Residents of the Garden Isle are encouraged to attend Kauaʻi’s first Community Climate Fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Kukui Grove Shopping Center in Līhuʻe.
The free family friendly event is hosted by the Hawaiʻi State Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Commission with several partners.
Interactive booths will display the many ways the state, counties and community organizations are working to address climate change throughout the islands.
The fair will also provide networking opportunities for participation at future beach cleanups, native reforestation efforts and other volunteer initiatives.

There will prize drawings, and attendees can even become champions for the environment by giving feedback on the state’s Climate Action Pathways planning process.
“It is important to incorporate the voices of all communities in the co-development of our [Climate Action Pathways planning process], so we’re excited to bring the fair to Kauaʻi.” said Leah Laramee, Hawaiʻi State Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Commission coordinator. “We look forward to talking and sharing ideas with all attendees!”
