ClassNK has awarded an Approval in Principle (AiP) to Samsung Heavy Industries for its Samsung Autonomous Navigation Assistance System (SAS).

This system, a partially Autonomous Navigation System (ANS), integrates advanced situational awareness through sensor fusion and electronic navigational charting. It also includes key functions for assessing and mitigating risks of collision and grounding.

The AiP certifies the SAS system’s adherence to ClassNK’s safety and operational guidelines.
