In September 2024 some 298 persons applied for asylum in the Republic of Cyprus (RoC), bringing the year-to-date figure to 5,652 persons as at end September.
As at end September 2024, some 21,816 persons’ applications are pending at the Asylum Service, while some 6,611 persons’ appeals are pending at the International Protection Administrative Court (IPAC).
Some 23,053 persons are currently registered as international protection beneficiaries in the RoC. Some 4,432 have been granted refugee status, and 18,621 have subsidiary protection.
Some 157 persons of concern to UNHCR are in the northern part of Cyprus, as at end July 2024.
In 2022 some 925 unaccompanied and separated children (UASC) applied for asylum in the RoC. In 2023, 1,015 UASC were registered as having arrived at the Pournara First Reception Center. Some 533 UASC have applied for asylum from Jan. – Sept. 2024 (EASO data).
Up until end September 2024, some 23,359 refugees from Ukraine have applied for Temporary Protection in the RoC.
