“In the aftermath of these devastating floods, we felt compelled to get involved in a way. We need to help in preserving and somehow healing our natural beauties of which we take so much pride.”
Volunteers from the nearby town of Jablanica, which was hit by deadly floods earlier in October, assisted power plant employees in using heavy machinery to remove the waste.
Jablanica is part of the southwestern Herzegovina-Neretva canton, which was hit hardest during the country’s deadliest floods in years, resulting in the loss of 16 lives.
