ALBANY, N.Y. (WCAX) – A Plattsburgh man faces up to 20 years behind bars after pleading guilty Tuesday to federal charges of health care fraud.

Federal authorities say that Scott Newcombe, 40, admitted to submitting false and fraudulent claims while acting as office manager and claims biller for two physicians through a company that he formed called SJ Healthcare Management Services, LLC.

They say he admitted that he submitted false and fraudulent claims to public and private insurers on behalf of those practices for services that, in some instances, were never provided and, in other instances, were provided at lower reimbursement rates than the amounts billed.

He’ll be sentenced in February.
