Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday said “all aspects” of cooperation between Georgia and Hungary were “important” for the Government.
Kobakhidze emphasised the need to deepen trade and economic relations and develop economic cooperation across various sectors, highlighting the Black Sea submarine electricity cable project – a new transmission route to deliver green energy from Azerbaijan to Europe – and noting “a lot of attention” would be given to the implementation of joint projects.
We have signed an agreement on investment cooperation, which will facilitate mutual investments in both Hungary and Georgia. We will continue to work in this direction”, he said.
The PM also mentioned the joint broadband internet cable project, which involves collaboration with other partner states.
He noted there was a “great potential for deepening cooperation” and added his office “will do everything to utilise this resource as much as possible”.
The head of the Government said tourism cooperation between the two countries also represented a “priority”, as it fostered “closer people-to-people ties”, and pointed out “positive trends” in tourism and the intention to further enhance these relations.
Kobakhidze extended his gratitude to his Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orbán for supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia.
He also thanked the Hungarian PM for visiting the country, while expressing optimism for continued cooperation to ensure “deepening of our relations and protection of the national interests of our countries”.
