The Armed Forces of Azerbaijan have been ranked among the
world’s most powerful armies, Azernews reports,
citing the U.S. publication “U.S. News and World Report.”

The list is topped by the militaries of Russia, the United
States, Israel, China, the United Kingdom, Germany, Turkiye, and
Ukraine.

Azerbaijan’s Armed Forces hold the 29th position on the
list.

“U.S. News and World Report” also provided additional
information about Azerbaijan.

It is noted that Azerbaijan is a country located in the Caucasus
region, at the crossroads of Europe and Asia. Situated at a
geographic intersection, the country first became a democratic
republic in 1918 after World War I, having previously been under
the rule of various empires. However, just two years after gaining
independence, it was incorporated into the USSR. Following the
Soviet Union’s dissolution in 1991, Azerbaijan reestablished itself
as an independent republic.

The majority of the population are ethnic Azerbaijanis. While
most citizens are Muslim, Azerbaijan is a secular state that
guarantees freedom of religion. Azerbaijan is considered a
presidential republic.

The country is rich in natural resources, and its economy is
primarily based on oil and other energy exports. Azerbaijan is
considered a prosperous country with a high level of economic
development and literacy.

It should be noted that Bangladesh is ranked 30th, Colombia
31st, Canada 32nd, and Italy 34th on the list. Armenia and Georgia
are not included in the ranking.
