More than 600,000 Russian soldiers have been killed or injured since the invasion of Ukraine, the secretary-general of Nato has claimed.
Speaking to journalists in Brussels, Mark Rutte confirmed that North Korean troops had been sent to help Russia and said some had already been deployed in the Kursk border region, which Ukrainian forces have partly occupied.
He said that the move was a “significant escalation” and “yet another breach of UN security council resolutions”, adding: “Nato calls on Russia and the DPRK [Democratic People’s Republic of Korea] to cease these actions immediately.”
