The President of the Club of Democrats, Boris Bogdanović, in a parliamentary question on the Prime Minister’s Hour, asked the Prime Minister, Milojko Spajić, whether he believes that the actions of the Chief of the General Staff of the Army of Montenegro, Zoran Lazarevic, have seriously damaged the reputation of Montenegro in front of its NATO partners, and whether steps are being taken to rectify this. correct.

Also, he asked Spajić “who is protecting everything” Lazarevic, who, as he says, was “essentially proposed and chosen” by the former president of the state, Milo Đukanović, as the head of Generalšatab.

Demokrate reported that Bogdanović exercised his parliamentary right and, ahead of the prime minister’s hour scheduled for October 29, asked Spajić a question.

“It is worrying that high-ranking military officials, who should represent a pillar of honor and honesty, use their positions for personal profit and participation in activities, such as the smuggling of luxury goods and connections with dubious structures. Brigadier General Lazarevic, who was caught in dubious actions , his actions not only damaged the reputation of the Army of Montenegro, but also directly humiliated our country in front of our NATO allies questioning the seriousness of our commitment to our allies,” Bogdanović wrote.

When we take into account, as he said, “three decades of devastation” of military resources, “misuse of funds from the state budget and dubious transactions that led to the sale of key military real estate at shockingly low prices”, the question of responsibility arises – who are the people who allowed that the Army of Montenegro, which should be a symbol of our statehood and sovereignty, “become a training ground for criminal activities”.

“In this regard, Mr. Prime Minister, I ask: 1. Do you think that the actions of Brigadier General Lazarevic, as well as other individuals who are involved in similar activities, have seriously damaged the reputation of Montenegro in front of our NATO partners, and whether they are being taken steps to correct it; 2. Who is protecting Brigadier General Zoran Lazarević, who was fundamentally proposed and chosen by former President Milo Đukanović, asked Bogdanović.

Montenegro, as a member of the NATO alliance and a European country with “high standards of democracy”, deserves a defense sector “freed from compromised party cadres, who do not work for the interests of the citizens and the state of Montenegro”, said the Democrat MP.
