SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – UC Santa Barbara’s Women’s Soccer head coach Paul Stumpf announced that assistant coach Andrew Montenegro has been promoted to associate head coach effective immediately.
 
“I am proud and excited to promote Andrew to associate head coach,” said Stumpf. “He is a valuable member of our staff and is an exceptional recruiter. He has a great eye for talent, and we are very excited about the incoming class this year. His dependability and hard work, coupled with his ability to coach the X’s and O’s makes me feel fortunate to have him as part of my staff.”
 
The upcoming 2024 season will be Montenegro’s third at UC Santa Barbara. Under Montenegro’s tutelage, the Gauchos have placed multiple student-athletes on The Big West’s All-Conference teams each of his first two seasons. They have also appeared in The Big West Quarterfinals during the 2022 season with Montenegro on staff.
 
Stumpf, Montenegro and the rest of the Gauchos will open up their 2024 season with an exhibition against Trinity Western on Monday, Aug. 12 at 7 p.m. They begin regular season competition on Thursday, Aug. 15 when they host the Lions of LMU at 7 p.m. at Harder Stadium.
