Satellite imagery appears to show the overnight Israeli airstrikes targeted buildings used for mixing fuel for ballistic missiles in Iran, according to Reuters news agency.
Citing separate assessments by two American researchers, the outlet reports they have been told Israel struck Parchin, a massive military complex near the capital city Tehran, and Khojir, a missile production site.
Decker Eveleth, an associate research analyst at Washington think tank CNA, said the Israeli attacks may have “significantly hampered Iran’s ability to mass produce missiles”.
Israel said three waves of jets hit missile factories and other sites near Tehran and in the west of the country.
Mr Eveleth said an image from Planet Labs, a commercial satellite firm, shows an Israeli strike destroyed two buildings in Khojir, where solid fuel for ballistic missiles was mixed.
Planet Labs imagery of Parchin shows Israel destroyed three ballistic missile solid fuel mixing buildings and a warehouse, Mr Eveleth said.
David Albright, a former UN weapons inspector, said he reviewed imagery of Parchin appearing to show an Israeli strike damaged three buildings.
The images have not been seen by Sky News.
