TWO artistic roller skaters from Regent Skating Club Jersey have returned from Switzerland, having recently competed for Great Britain in the Cup of Europe.
Jack Ovens and Sophie Baker flew to Zurich to compete, with the support of their coaches.
Ovens and Baker were selected to represent GB based on their results at the British National Championships, which took place earlier this year.
A representative of RSCJ said: “We are very proud of them to have been selected to be part of such a talented GB squad.”
Ovens skated in the “Cadet” age group with a Latin medley-style dance and a mesmerising free dance to music from the popular television series Stranger Things.
Meanwhile, Baker skated in the “Junior” age group with a Spanish medley-style dance, as well as an emotive free dance to music from the film, The Huntsman: A Winter’s War.
After their amazing combined performances, both Islanders managed to achieve personal best scores on the International stage.
Both skaters can be immensely proud of what they achieved as they represented their club and country against some excellent European competition.
RSCJ extended their thanks to the sponsors who have helped them this year – most notably Jersey Sport – and the JEC for their new sound system.
