Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev exchanged brief words during a plenary session at the BRICS summit in Kazan.
The two leaders sat side by side at the event, which brought together world leaders, including representatives of new BRICS members such as Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
Russia, which is chairing the summit, emphasised the theme of “strengthening multilateralism for equitable global development”. Despite tense relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, no further details of their exchanges were given. The summit ends on 24 October.
