Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus and Deputy chairman of the Standing Committee on International Affairs of the House of Representatives Oleg Gaidukevich said that he had decided to participate in the upcoming presidential elections in the republic. The politician announced this today, October 25.

“The party has never missed a single election campaign since 1994. We have always worked to strengthen the constitutional order of the country… Therefore, I want to announce my participation in the elections and I am running from the Liberal Democratic Party as a presidential candidate,” he said.

Gaidukevich noted that his team will form an initiative group and begin collecting signatures for nomination.

Recall, on October 23, at a meeting of the House of Representatives, deputies decided to set the date of the presidential election for January 26, 2025. Later, the head of the Central Election Commission, Igor Karpenko, said that it was necessary to submit documents for registration of initiative groups to nominate presidential candidates no later than November 1. According to him, in order to nominate a presidential candidate, it is necessary to collect at least 100 thousand signatures. Pre-election campaigning and voter information will be held from January 1 to January 25, 2025. Early voting will take place from January 21 to January 25, and January 26 is the main election day.
