Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS has confirmed who The Netherlands will have as their new Head of Delegation for Eurovision 2025.
In an interview with Songfestivalpodcast.nl, General Director of AVROTROS Taco Zimmermann confirmed that Claudia van der Pas would be taking on the job moving forward.
van der Pas has been the Assistant Head of Delegation for the Netherlands at the past two Eurovision contests. She succeeds Twan van der Nieuwenhuijzen in the role, following his decision to leave after Eurovision 2024.
Speaking about van der Pas’s appointment, Zimmermann said the decision “gives confidence” to the broadcaster:
“She knows the ropes. She has experienced it several times. So that gives confidence. And Claudia has done well for years. And now we have given her the confidence to become the boss herself.”
The new Head of Delegation’s first job will be to help select a new act for the Netherlands at Eurovision. Yesterday, the country confirmed they would be competing in Basel next May after an extension to their participation deadline was agreed with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
Submissions are open from now until Friday, November 22, 2024, at 11:59 PM. Interested artists, composers, lyricists, producers, and record labels can submit their entries via songfestival@avrotros.nl.
