We all know Wiz Khalifa loves to smoke his weed. He’s like the younger version of Snoop Dogg — wherever he goes, you know he will bring that grass with him. But Wiz’s love of marijuana recently got him in some serious trouble across the pond.
On Monday, the “Black and Yellow” rapper was indicted by Romanian authorities for smoking a joint on stage during his performance at the Beach Please! Festival in Costinesti, Romania over the summer. The possession and use of cannabis in the country is illegal.
In a press released by the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT), a law enforcement agency that serves the Romanian Government, it shares that the Pittsburgh artist was charged with “possession of dangerous drugs, without the right, for personal consumption,” according to a translation of the statement.
It’s alleged that the 37-year-old had nearly “18.53 grams of cannabis and a cigarette that contained cannabis.”
Once Wiz lit up his joint on stage and started smoking, authorities almost immediately walked him off stage and took him into custody. Video of Khalifa smoking on stage and eventually being taken away by authorities is below:
The irony of Wiz getting arrested for an activity on which his entire public persona is based is not lost: He admitted years ago that he spends about $10,000 on weed every month.
Wiz sounded apologetic at the time, writing on X, “Last night’s show was amazing. I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage. They were very respectful and let me go. I’ll be back soon. But without a big ass joint next time.”
It seems that didn’t buy him much goodwill three months later. It’s currently unclear if he will return to Romania to fight the charges.
