Japan Display to suspend talks on building factory in China Japan Display says it will suspend talks with a local government in China on the construction of a factory making next-generation display panels.

JDI says a confidentiality agreement prevents it from disclosing the reason for the suspension.

But it added it hasn’t given up its plan for setting up a facility in China.

Japan Display has been in talks with the city of Wuhu in Anhui Province. It now says it will not extend an October 31 deadline for reaching an agreement.

JDI’s business has been struggling, posting net losses for 10 consecutive years to fiscal 2023.

It is pinning its hopes on next-generation OLED panels for turning the company around.

Japan Display had planned to build a factory with support from the Wuhu city government and cooperation of a local firm. It had twice extended the deadline for signing a contract.
