Turkish government suspects PKK of 'terrorist' attack Five people were killed and 22 wounded on Wednesday in what authorities in Turkey are calling a “terrorist attack.” The interior minister said it is “highly likely” the perpetrators were members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK.

The attack took place at Turkish Aerospace Industries near the capital, Ankara.

Witnesses say they heard gunfire and an explosion at the state-run aviation company, which produces aircraft for both civilian and military use and is developing a new fighter jet.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said two of the attackers were killed. He added: “When we compare this to similar attacks, we are of the strong opinion that this is the PKK terrorist organization. But, as I said, it will become certain once we determine their identities.”

Authorities have struggled for decades to crack down on the PKK. They blamed the group for an attack in Istanbul two years ago that killed six people.
