Major League Baseball superstar Ohtani Shohei of Los Angeles Dodgers fell short of picking up a Triple Crown in the National League on Sunday after a 1-for-4 day at the plate. But he still finished his regular season with outstanding records, including becoming the first player in the 50-50 club.

Ohtani had a chance of securing the Triple Crown title, where a player tops the league in three categories, before the final game against the Colorado Rockies in Denver.

But he had infield grounders in his first three at-bats, and hit a single in his fourth at-bat in the bottom of the eighth inning.

He finished the game with a .310 batting average, trailing Luis Arraez of the San Diego Padres who batted .314.

He extended his current hitting streak to 12 games and stole his 59th base of the season.

The Dodgers claimed a 2-1 victory over the Colorado Rockies.

In the end, Ohtani finished the regular season with a .310 batting average, 54 homers and 59 stolen bases. He had 130 RBIs and played in 159 games.

The Dodgers have clinched the No.1 seed in the National League and advanced to the postseason.
