Harris, Trump court Hispanic voters With two weeks to go before the US presidential race, Democratic nominee Kamala Harris and her Republican rival Donald Trump courted Hispanic voters on Tuesday.

Both campaigns are strengthening their efforts to win the support of Hispanic voters, who are a key constituency in the upcoming presidential election.

Pew Research Center says an estimated 36.2 million Hispanics across the US are eligible to vote this year. It says the figure is rising year by year, and about one in four eligible voters in Arizona — a battleground state — is Hispanic.

During an interview with a Spanish-language TV station, Harris stressed her willingness to work hard to raise the living standards of Hispanics.

Her campaign also announced efforts to create opportunities for Hispanic men in the workforce through training programs and increasing start-up funding for those starting or expanding their own businesses.

In the southern state of Florida, Trump attended a meeting of Hispanic business leaders and others.

He praised Hispanics, saying “they produced for the country, because the level of genius, entrepreneurship, energy that they have.” He added, “It’s an incredible community.”

Trump vowed to work hard to create jobs and appealed for their support.
