Biden informs Zelenskyy of new $425 million military aid package US President Joe Biden has told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that the United States will provide 425 million dollars in military aid to Ukraine.

The White House said Biden updated Zelenskyy on his efforts to surge security assistance to Ukraine over the remainder of his term in office in a phone conversation on Wednesday.

It said the US will provide Ukraine with additional capabilities including air defense systems, ammunition and armored vehicles in the coming months.

The US Defense Department said the aid package includes additional munitions for National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems, or NASAMS, and ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, or HIMARS.

The White House said Zelenskyy updated Biden on his plan to achieve victory over Russia.

It added Biden will host an online leader-level meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group for leaders in November to discuss support for Ukraine.

The meeting was initially planned to be held in Germany in October. But it was postponed as Biden dealt with impacts of a hurricane.
