US firm, Italian fashion brand unveil spacesuit for lunar astronauts US space developer Axiom Space and Italian fashion house Prada have unveiled a spacesuit they jointly designed for astronauts who will visit the moon.

The two firms showed the latest version of the space garment in Milan on Wednesday.

Officials say the spacesuit is made from a white material that reflects sunlight to protect astronauts from the high temperatures on the lunar surface.

They also say the suit can withstand the extremely low temperatures at the lunar south pole, enabling astronauts to work there for at least two hours. The region does not get sunlight, and it is thought water may exist in the form of ice.

The officials say they made the most of the fashion brand’s knowledge of materials, so astronauts will be protected from the extreme lunar conditions.

They say they will continue to develop and test the spacesuit for the US-led Artemis lunar exploration program.
