Nobel Prize-winning author Han Kang said Thursday that she hopes to continue writing and meet readers through her books, just as she has been doing until now.

Han made the remarks during the award ceremony organized by the Pony Chung Foundation.

During the event, she said it wasn’t until she hung up the phone and confirmed the news reports of her Nobel Prize win that reality finally hit her.

The 53-year-old author who will be turning 54 next month said that as the golden period for writers is considered to be from age 50 to 60, she hopes to write three more books over the next six years.

This was the first time Han had publicly shared her thoughts on her Nobel Prize win, as she has been avoiding the press as much as possible, aside from her interview with a Swedish public television broadcaster.
