Human Development Index or HDI is a composite index that takes life expectancy, education attainment and purchasing power into account to measure the standard of living of the people in a given region.

  2. It looks bad but even Mississippi is miles ahead of India’s *most* developed state (0.794)

WA gets a bad rap, but man it is awesome up here. Eh, I mean, it’s terrible up here. It’s always rainy up here and there are junkies on every corner. Nobody come here.

  4. Which year is it for? I’ve seen data that the US average was 0.92 but in this case, almost half would be below the average then, hmm

  5. I don’t know if this means anything. I’ve been to both WV and MS for tourism and they were both pretty awesome. Both were just beautiful and honestly, I could not tell how they were different in HDI in any way.

In fact MS’s top hospitals has one of the best mortality outcomes in the country.
