Abacus Data Ontario Poll: Ontario PCs lead by 20 + Opinions on Homeless Encampments and Highway 401

PCs are leading across all age groups and both male / female.
Regional results:
City of Toronto (416): PC 41%, Liberal 27%, NDP 22%, Green 6%
GTHA (905): PC 52%, Liberal 21%, NDP 19%, Green 6%
Southwestern Ontario: PC 40%, Liberal 25%, NDP 22%, Green 9%
Eastern Ontario: PC 42%, Liberal 24%, NDP 24%, Green 3%
Northern Ontario: Sample size too small
The seat projection with these numbers is absolutely wild for a government looking to win a third term.
If an election were held today, the PCs would win over a hundred seats while both the Liberals and the NDP wouldn’t win enough seats to get official party status.

Thought this was interesting
>Of note, 37% of PC Party supporters think the province is most responsible for dealing with the homeless encampments.
* 39% of PC Party supporters thinks it’s a federal responsibility
* amongst 18 – 29 year olds, 45% think it’s a federal responsibility
* 62% think the Ford government isn’t doing enough to help the municipalities deal with homeless encampments.
The secret to Ford’s success that the OLP doesn’t understand is his maintaining the status quo on housing and refusing to do anything big on easing supply.
If the OLP comes out with a policy of gutting rent control entirely, making evictions easier, criminalizing homelessness, and tax breaks for rental properties while raising taxes on renters, they will be in majority government territory overnight as Ford’s support collapses in the 905.
Everyone knows that the solution to traffic problems is just adding more lanes! s/
Listening to public opinion brings out my inner Stalinist. Adding lanes to the 401 has no place in my 5-Year Plan.
Frankly, I don’t think the PCs support is as durable as the topline results indicate. Doug Ford and the PC’s net approval are overwhelmingly negative, and more than 75% of Ontarians say the Ford government is doing a poor job on [crime, healthcare, housing affordability and cost of living](https://angusreid.org/ontario-pcs-ndp-liberals-doug-ford-cost-of-living-health-care-housing-affordability-bonnie-crombie-marit-stiles/). The polling numbers remain static, because the Liberals absolutely no public presence at the moment.
The political atmosphere in Ontario is change, and there is a reasonable chance we may see a collapse in PC support, once the Liberals are able to establish a strong alternative brand and vision to the public.
As always, GOTV matters. If voters come out in massive numbers, the PCs are likely in deep trouble. Doug Ford doesn’t have the post-COVID afterglow keeping voters apathetic about voting this time around.
Reddit doesnt represent the majority opinion of most people in the world, just because you see some sub reddits preach about how bad Ford is, or how good bike lanes are doesnt mean most ppl in ON agree with you
Super weird that the Ontario PCs are not suffering from the backlash against incumbents that is so common these days. They have a huge role to play in healthcare and housing at the provincial level, and voters don’t seem to be holding them accountable in the same was as, say, here in BC or in Quebec.
