Israeli strike in Lebanon kills 16, wounds more than 50 Lebanon’s health ministry says an Israeli airstrike hit a municipal building in the city of Nabatieh on Wednesday. It reported that 16 people died and more than 50 were wounded.

Reuters said members of the local council were meeting to discuss relief efforts for people displaced by the Israeli offensive. It reported that the mayor was among those killed. Israel said its forces struck dozens of Hezbollah targets nearby.

Other Israeli units have pressed forward with their attacks in Gaza. The head of the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees, Philippe Lazzarini, is concerned that the fighting is disrupting the ability of aid workers to get help to those in need.

Lazzarini said, “I will not hide the fact that we might reach a point that we won’t be able anymore to operate.”

He added that the agency is also facing financial and political threats, and there is a greater risk of disease and famine as the weather gets colder.
