I saw a comment talking about this that listed all the scenarios that happen with tariffs. I think it was something like:Â
Scenario 1: domestic company A is already cheaper than foreign company B. Tarrifs on B means that company A can raise their prices to match B and still compete. Americans pay the difference.
Scenario 2: company B is cheaper than company A, but tariffs make them the same price, Americans pay the difference.Â
Scenario 3: Company A and B are the same price, tariffs raise company B’s prices, company A remains the same price. Americans get no benefit from tariff.

You know whom I like to trust on economics? Anyone that’s managed to get a casino to go bankrupt. That person really understands economics and the peril’s there of.

Trump supporters who say that economics is important doesn’t square with the number of people with only a high school degree – Trump’s base – who own stock – <50%.

The first thing the EU does when the tariffs hit their cars is put a tariff on US agriculture.

There used to be a shirt manufacturer in my home town. Munsingwear. The cost you are not seeing is that Factory being priced out of business. The jobs lost. The taxes base lost. Crime and unemployment both went up. That is a cost you are not talking about. The increased need for social services, police,. Business even went down at the liquor store. It is not just the cost at the register letting cheap crap in the country.
