The police rejected the complaint about MCC’s expenses due to the lack of suspicion of a crime

In the absence of any suspicion of a crime, the police rejected the complaint filed by Ágnes Vadai, a member of the DK parliament, regarding the expenses of the Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC).

In September, the investigative portal Direkt36 wrote about the fact that the MCC, which is close to the government, pays some of its lecturers an extraordinary salary compared to Hungarian higher education conditions, while their performance fluctuates. One of them is András Koltay, the president of the National Media and Communications Authority and the Media Council, who is also the head of the MCC Freedom of Speech organization. According to documents related to salary data for 2023 obtained by Direkt36, the workshop’s annual salary cost – including taxes and contributions – was HUF 12 million, while Koltay was the organization’s only employee.
