I’ve had to spend way too much of my time recently calling, emailing and trying to get some of my money back from a bank, health insurer and a government agency. It’s such a drain and waste of my time.

At best, I could blame it on poor systems and insufficiently trained staff. At worst, it’s deliberately set up to rip off customers.

Nearly all business and government interactions in Australia are exploitative. You always have to be on guard.

  2. These fucking ticketing companies have been scamming Australians for years with their scalping practices. About time something was done.

As pointed out though, rather useless unless enforced.

  3. If they’re going to do “dynamic pricing” at least make it a straight up auction, not this half-way BS.

  4. How bloody long have we had to deal with the issues they’re talking about?

Subscription traps have been well known for years, gyms especially are notorious for it. Why does it take media attention for the Government to target these practices? Did nobody think about this when they were brainstorming how to help with cost of living?

Sure. But drip pricing is supposed to be illegal and they do that now.

Laws don’t mean shit if nobody is enforcing them

  6. abc show on live nation last night was scary. band talking about how the one company owns the ticketing, the agent and the venue, the band saw less than 10% of the ticket price. they even took a cut of the merchandise the band sold at their own shows.

  7. How bout stopping the “dynamic pricing” of rental properties when an investment firm buys them and immediately increases rent by 50%?
