Did Gierek purchase a license to produce French baguettes for zapiekanka?

Perhaps a silly question but this article says he "bought a licence to produce baguettes from the French" when the zapiekanka was made in the 70s, but I couldn’t find anything on his wikipedia page (neither the PL nor EN one). I was wondering if there was an official record or like, any other source that could support this claim.
