  1. Oh no, those poor companies, potentially, lost some value of their overpriced intellectual property… I am trying my best to feel bad for them here

  2. Surely this is a civil matter between himself and Sky…..

I could see how you could land yourself in legal trouble here around not paying tax on these earnings.

“The judge said Cormac McGuckin had 23 previous convictions for dishonesty, including theft and fraud”

Although this fella doesn’t seem like a nice person at all…..

I suspect this and the sums of money involved were the biggest factors in handing down such a harsh sentence.

I know sky and other broadcasters at moving going on a blitz of copyright protection of late in the UK so perhaps this guy’s been made an example of.

If he had physically or sexually assaulted someone before he was caught then he’d be free by now.

  5. One of his previous convictions was for stealing from an elderly person with Alzheimer’s to fund his own wedding, £15,000 or something.

So don’t be getting too butt hurt for the piece of shit.

I used to do a small bit of this but was always wary of getting too deep into it even though the opportunity to do so was there. I have set them up for a few friends and family and I am basically just paying the subs on their behalf now as they are generally older and not very technically minded so even getting them to use PayPal would be a stretch. You used to be able to make a few bob by doing it, but it has gotten to the stage where everyone expects a years service for 50 euro and 24/7 technical support along with it. Getting texts and calls when people couldn’t find a particular match or event on a channel used to wreck my head and that more or less got me out of it.
