One thing that is linteresting about “The City of Adelaide” is that unlike any other local government in Australia that I can think of, it really has almost sacred borders that were defined at the beginning of colonisation and have never changed.
Expanding the local government area would be seen as sacraligious. Its probably the closest that the colonies ever got to replicating the special status of “The City of London”.

Visited Adelaide for the first time last year. Lovely place you got there. Many grids make Light work. Keep your shops open past 5PM on weekends though, pretty please?
