They are using compressed air to launch the mortars giving them more control over the trajectory of the projectile, plus: the recoil is attenuated.

Opsec for the hezbollah operation appears to be even stricter than it was for against hamas. expect very little non official footage from both parties

This is more akin to a weapon like spg-9, rather than mortar.

Except this weapon system isnt recoilless.

  5. Can’t find anything about this weird double-barrelled potato-gun mortar.

Fwiw, this may actually be the 213th Artillery Brigade

Is this not just a system to burn down the fields around bases and thus preventing sneaky terrorists from doing sneaky terrorist things?

This looks like a clip from a longer video. I am curious why it cuts to a drone operator at the end. The valves and tubing used look like off-the-shelf parts, so the pressure can’t be more than ~500psi. At that pressure, with that short of a barrel, a mortar shell isn’t going to go more than a few hundred meters. Combined with the total lack of traditional mortar aiming equipment, I suspect this is some kind of close-range drone-directed fires system.

  8. ME Folks blowing up other ME people. I really would prefer if we stopped funding one to blow up the other.

Yep, I’m sure those mortars were dropped with pinpoint accuracy on combatants! 😉
