  1. > The AI video carries some hallmarks of computer-generated footage. The most obvious sign is that the vehicle traffic is moving at a much faster speed than the fires.

One day AI will be able to work all this stuff out. Hopefully we can work out some kind of countermeasures beforehand.

AI video is going to work at tricking people, because people want to be tricked if it aligns with their beliefs.

  3. Reminds me of when people kept sharing Battlefield 4 videos when Russia invaded Ukraine.

  4. Is it me or did “purportedly” just burst onto the scene recently?? Like word of the year level. I’ve heard and read this word more this year than in my entire life. I love it though. Thank you Ross Coulthart

This is only the beginning.  I’m old enough to remember when the internet first came along and how amazing the potential was.  I was so young, naive, and oblivious to how shitty it would turn out.

I truly believe in the next decade or two, AI will be making decisions for us. Somehow, we have dumb ourselves down beyond repair.

For months people have been sharing footage of Assad murdering Syrians and Putin murdering Ukrainians and claiming it to be footage of Gaza. Suppose it was only a matter of time before they decided to cut out the middleman of reality all together for this stuff.

Luckily the good citizens of the Middle East are known for their unrestricted access to information and critical thinking skills. They should have no problem figuring out it’s not real and definitely won’t do anything rash
