Hey there! I have a friend who lives in Panama and has an employer in Turkey who wants to pay him in Bitcoin. My friend asked if they could pay him through ACH, PayPal, or cash, but they said they could only pay in Bitcoin. However, my friend mentioned that they are ready to pay him, but it has to be in Bitcoin. Otherwise, they said they would need to send the money via Western Union to a family member in the United States first and then to my friend again using Western Union. Technically, two years ago, Panama allowed Bitcoin payments. However, I'm concerned that this might be a scam.

If he decides to accept a Bitcoin payment for now, which platform should he use? I would prefer if there was a platform that could automatically convert from Bitcoin to USD so he doesn't lose money, considering that Bitcoin is very volatile.Right now, I'm considering recommending either Coinbase or Crypto.com for him. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Also, please let me know if this is a scam and advise on what my friend should do. It would sadden me to think that a company would attempt to take advantage of a young employee. Thank you again!

Friend’s employer wants to pay in Bitcoin and not in USD? Which app or platform should she use to convert Bitcoin immediately to USD? Is it a scam?

How big is the employer? Is this being reported at all for tax purposes etc? I’d certainly be cautious of this one

  2. Uphold or Coinbase

Not a scam IF the Bitcoin is transferred into YOUR account AND is verified BEFORE goods/services are rendered.

  3. USDC would make more sense for this use-case, particularly with respect to tax concerns etc. Also doesn’t seem like it’d be desirable to have my income fluctuate with BTC, regardless of its value as a longterm asset.

What do you do when an investment is underwater. Give it to your employees. ( getting scraps from the boss!

Employer in turkey but wants to pay only in btc🤣🤣 cmon that’s the red flag right there.

  6. Ironically the idea of someone using bitcoin for its original purpose smells terribly of a scam.

  7. Not a scam, (you cant fool the bitcoin blockchain) and you CAN switch the bitcoin out as soon as it is received into us dollars.

  8. At this point, I rather accept work payments in super rather than in usd, us dollar is just is being devalued every day.
