Good afternoon everyone,

For university, we have been tasked with a project proposal for the future urban development of the town of Chur. For reference, this is a link to the project description.

The project has 2 parts for which I would love to get some feedback from Chur inhabitants or people who know the city well. A situation analysis and an improvement idea proposal. I will probably make multiple posts looking to discuss certain aspects of the town, but first of all, let me start with these questions:

What do you love about it ? (What makes you go/stay there ? What activities do you like to do ? What does your Sunday look like ?)

What is wrong with Chur ? (What do you not like about being there, in terms of the housing situation, mobility, or even free time activities ?)

I am looking for any kinds of answers really, if you have anything to share, please do ! Even if it’s just a photo of something you saw recently in the city that particularly sucked or that you enjoyed.

Also don’t hesitate to ask questions about the project/master in general (master of spatial development and infrastructure systems)

Chur, a city worth living in ?

They have 26 apartments for rent and 6 apartments for sale (4 of which are 3.5) for the whole city of 40k inhabitants, and the prices are not good as well. One would think that since it’s not zurich with its crazy growth, they should have more available places, but they (I guess) just don’t build anything. If you compare it to Lugano or Lausanne (3 times more population, 15 times more options at flatfox). I was told that they just abuse tourism, but I don’t really believe that, so I miss what exactly is the reason for it
