Mega thread: One year anniversary of the October 7th attack

Tomorrow (7/10-2024) we mark one year since the terrorist attack on October 7, in which over 1000 Israelis were killed by Hamas. It is a day that evokes many strong emotions and reflections. To ensure discussions remain unified and respectful, we’ve created this megathread for the topic.

Important: The rule announced in the counterpart from 12 Maythat posts and comments that encourage debate about the conflict will be removed, does not apply to this mega thread. As long as the debate remains respectful, this is an open forum for discussion.

Please keep the debate civil and avoid personal attacks. The discussion should focus on the terrorist attack on October 7 and the subsequent events. Racist, discriminatory or other content that breaks the rules is not allowed.

This is a sensitive discussion, so let’s remember to show respect for the victims on both sides.

Important follow-up information: On October 8th we will create a separate megathread to commemorate the Palestinian victims who suffered during the Israeli counterattack the following day. We hope that this thread can provide space to reflect on the situation for both Israelis and Palestinians, and that we can all respect the victims on both sides of the conflict.
