Just for some context THIS is the swastika sign that someone was arrested for at the rally today.

  1. I remember the ban on hate speech and symbols and I thought that sounds like a bad idea. Now I see this sort of thing and I think yep, that was a bad idea.

Yes, Nazis bad. Hate speech bad. Banning free expression also bad. Too easy for it to be misused. Turns out police state bad.

The Fkwit who made that sign …most certainly knew the reaction they would get…an that they would get plastered all over main stream media…therefore achieving their goal of get that image seen by the masses….well done everyone complicit in the endeavor..

Neo Nazi: *wears symbol* *waves symbol* *chants in favor of the symbol*

Police Officer: Attention seekers… but it’s their right, so…

    Pro-Palestine Protester: *shows symbol*

Police: **ON THE GROUND! ON THE GROUND!**

    also for context

This man is a jewish member,of the bondi synagogue,he was expelled from attending for his comments on netanayahu earlier in the year

The other person arrested today, was also a jewish man,who walked up to some protestors and punched one..

Otherwise NSW police say the event was largely peacefull.

  5. Yeah look probably not the best idea idea to be parading around a swastika at a protest – whatever the motivation or reasoning might be.

Better ways to get messages across than this.

  6. It’s a sign saying ‘these guys are so bad they are like the Nazis’

So now saying someone is a Nazi is hate speech? Half of Twitter has called Trump a Nazi daily for a decade.

Let’s attend to the N – 1 people who came out peacefully today then please (apparently one person was punching, not this sign holder).

    Call it how it is.

  8. Might be a hot take, but I don’t see anything wrong with the arrest. Nazi symbolism is banned, it’s the law, doesn’t matter what the message is. The law doesn’t say “nazi symbol is banned unless a Jew is displaying it”. Or “Nazi symbol is banned unless they aren’t referring to actual German nazis”
    It’s just.. banned..

Maybe different story if they just write “Israel is Nazi” without the symbolism

As Aussies we are blessed with the right to protest, protest within the bounds of the law is important no?
