Why should he when hamas is there? Lebanon is harbouring militants who want to destroy Israel.

  2. This idiot calling for a ceasefire after Iran fires 200+ rockets indiscriminately at Israel cities. Heck Lebanon has been firing rockets into Israel for almost a year. Thats a declaration of war. If that happened to Canada we would have responded same day.

Ok well maybe not Canada because we have gutted our military completely 🤣.

  3. > Trudeau condemned the Iranian missile attacks last week but on Saturday, when asked he if he condemned Israel for moving troops by land into Lebanon, he didn’t use the word.

Oh no! He didn’t use ‘the word’. My life is ruined.

  4. As with Biden and the U.S. Congress, words are wind when you aren’t going to do anything about it.

  5. He shouldn’t condemn them sending troops. Can you image if a country fired 200 rockets into canada or the USA? Would we say just let it happen?

Probably shouldn’t lob 1000’s of rockets into your neighbours territory and not expect a little retribution.

  7. Good effort calling for peace but I don’t think anyone cares what canada says with all due respect…

Why should Trudeau condemn it? the resistance and genocide crowd likes to cite UN resolutions but they conveniently leave out the part where UN resolution 1701 signed in late 2006, required Lebanon to keep any military presence north of the Litani river. Yet for the past few years, Hezb has been firing rockets indiscriminately, displacing 60,000 people from Northern Isr*el. Ironically, Isra**l entering and pushing back the rocket firing squads actually enforces the UN resolution 1701, something the Irish and Unifil should have done.

Rus**a fires rockets like that into Ukr*ne and the Rus*ans are called aggressors. Why is the rule different for Leb*nese. Because they lack the ability to inflict damage?

Make no mistake, people didn’t die from Leban**se rockets because of defensive Isr*li tech and lack of sophistication of rockets, not because lack of trying on Hez**h part.

Condemnation absolutely does not make sense. Ceasefire does and only when Leb*n keeps their side of the last UN resolution 1701.

If we are going to quote human rights and UN resolutions, let’s apply that to all parties. Don’t exempt smaller actors just because of their scale.

  9. Canada’s most famous fence sitter of all time. Useless at governing Canada, speaks only for himself! Step down and let the Country try to recover from the mess you created.

Trudeau is a lame duck. His only goal at this point is to avoid losing a no confidence vote before next fall, because he knows that once there is an election his Liberals will be lucky if they maintain official party status. Who gives a rat’s ass what he has to say at this point?

    >But Trudeau stopped short of outright condemning Israel for beginning a ground war days after the Israeli military crossed the border into southern Lebanon.

I think anyone who knows the history would have trouble for condemning Israel for this. With Gaza at least people could complain about disproportionate responses. But this is a battle of armies.

UN Resolution 1701 isn’t being enforced by Lebanon and Hezbollah. Israel removed themselves from within Lebanon. And has been on the receiving end of rocket attacks since October 7th from them. The rockets didn’t kill that many people, so they were not the focus of news until Israel changed focus to Hezbollah. I had only found out this was happening when I wanted to know what was happening in Israel’s northern border.

Now that they’re going after Hezbollah, the war might expand. It’s not good for anyone, but the UN didn’t enforce resolution 1701. Hezbollah and Lebanon wouldn’t honor it either. And I don’t think taking rockets regularly for a year from a militia means they aren’t at war. Lebanon was already teering on collapse from recent problems, and Hezbollah is becoming deeply unpopular there.

I hope Israel exercises some restraint in making the situation more difficult there. But I don’t think they will, and I don’t know if they can. I think there is a real chance of Lebanon collapsing into a failed state. And if Lebanon collapses, Hezbollah will be to blame. Israel taking the war to them would be the final straw, in my opinion.

  12. When you let your failed state get taken over by foreign funded jihadis, and your neighbour comes to clean up the trash that the Lebanese government / population refuses – you don’t get to play victim. Lebanon has had 20 years to enforce UN resolution 1701 and hasn’t done shit.

Can’t help but feel that words without action just make the situation worse. When will leaders realize this?
