Strictly speaking this is the range of the Eastern Blue Tongue Skink. There are others – such as the also imaginatively named Western Blue Tongue Skink.

I assumed that central blob would be around the McDonnell ranges near Alice Springs but looks too far south so where is it?

Yeh blue tongue lizard exists in WA too.
