  1. tldr; The HBO documentary “Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery” claims to reveal the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, Bitcoin’s creator. This raises questions about potential legal consequences if Satoshi is unmasked. With an estimated 750,000 to 1.1 million Bitcoins, Satoshi could face charges related to tax evasion, securities laws, banking regulations, and national security. The documentary could have significant implications for the crypto industry, potentially explaining Satoshi’s disappearance in 2010.

  2. We all know real Satoshi’s identity will never be disclosed. They just want 2 scare you and buy your BTC for cheap

It’s probably not even a real person just a collection of people all working under the same pseudonym

  4. That would partly depend on what country he resides in, no?

This would also require the police just going off the word of a documentary, which would be unlikely unless they have some really daming and compelling evidence.

  5. What exactly did they do that was illegal?

Isn’t most of the wallets untouched? I don’t know how they can be arrested for tax evasion if they never sold it

The points in the article are doing some mental gymnastics to come to those conclusions

  6. No, because that will never happen, and by the time it does he’ll no longer be around, if he even still is to begin with, HBO doesn’t know shit, if he could’ve been identified he would’ve been already, people have tried for over a decade now..
And no it wasn’t the CIA or NSA either, because if it was there wouldn’t have been a need for project Monkey Rocket

  7. Arrested for what? It’s not like authorities go around arresting developers for writing code which was used by bad guys. Oh wait, that Tornado Cash thingy…

Satoshi who coded Bitcoin client is dead. Committed suicide in 2011. The Bitcoin wallets had been erased with **DoD 5220.22-M** in prior to his death though, because he’s scared CIA was going to cuff and/or torture him, and his wife doesn’t even know her husband was Satoshi.

Satoshi who wrote the white paper is Nick Szabo but he’s not the Satoshi who had the Bitcoin wallets.

  9. Adam Back Elon Musk and Sergey from chain link are 3 people we know 1000% for sure…. Before them go to 1996 NSA ecash for the Satoshi’ grandfather
Adam Back added the newspaper article… Elon Musk is Van Nuys Satoshi’ and left Paypal to create a C++ payment platform…. Smart contract stuff on Bitcoin was Sergey

  10. News flash, it was the government, not some random guy who hasn’t been identified in 15 years.

Wouldn’t the real SN be more concerned about people threatening him/her for the keys to the holdings?

If the identity receive widespread acceptance, it could create a substantial reverberations in global financial markets.

  13. This is the last thing we should be worried about, im more concerned about the price of BTC.

  14. I commend HBO for drumming up hype for a documentary, but I highly doubt they have conclusive evidence. They will probably just rehash and repackage the circumstantial evidence around Finney, Sassaman, or Szabo and claim it as new or something.

My guess is that it was Sassaman and Finney working together. But nobody knows and they took such lengths to hide their trail that I doubt anyone ever conclusively proves anything.

The purpose of myths is to obscure reality, myths can be created, quite easily the more conflicting the proof…the better folks get totally obsessed about it.
