  1. But when egypt demanded the same while marching to war, the UN moved out of the way. Won’t be surprised if they open fire on israeli soldiers.

What is the point of UNIFIL if they just let Hezbollah move right on in? 10,000 troops and they couldn’t stop Terrorists from shelling Israel for almost a whole year?

Naturally. The UN ain’t exactly beating the accusations of being an Islamic mouth piece here.

Having a beefed up UN force move into the area and actually enforce the previous resolution to keep Hezbollah out of the border region *would* actually be the solution.

But the problem is that many of the contributing countries to UNIFIL are openly hostile towards Israel and therefore aren’t exactly neutral actors.

Some of them don’t even recognise Israel diplomatically.

And *that* is why UNIFIL acts the way it is. It’s pretty much the opposite of having the US Army take over and then pretend they’re a neutral actor in the conflict.

A way to manufacture an international incident.

Leave troops on ground, create messy situation by having them close to battlefield in harms way, troops die, create an international incident.

  6. Israel have given fair warning to UN and UN refused. Should there be casualties in UN personnel, it will be UN’s fault for not evacuating their force out of the way between Israel and Hezbollah.

  7. Kinda like Hamas rejects Israel’s requests for civilians to evacuate for their own safety.

Bye-bye blue helmets, Israel is not going to show restraint because of a blue helmet. Especially since they haven’t done anything to protect Israel

  9. I know a blue helmet. They’ve been sitting in underground bunkers for the last two weeks. No patrols (which were useless anyway as they reroute if there’s Intel of hostiles). It is and always has been just a virtue signal having them there.

well then I guess we’re gonna see some dead blue helmets when they are confirmed to fire on IDF soldiers.

  11. > However, senior officials admit that UNIFIL can no longer fulfil its primary role: monitoring a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah that has been shattered in recent weeks.

Ah, yes, of course, just in recent weeks, because the border has been so quiet before that.
