I use AdGuard on my iPhone for an ad free experance in safari.
I’m going to be moving to pi hole or similar for network wide blocking in home.
Google certainly isn’t doing itself any favors after the US Justice Department ruled they were a monopoly. In the end I doubt that ruling will go anywhere beyond a slap on the wrist but this type of behavior certainly shows exactly why businesses like Apple, Google, Microsoft, Facebook, etc must not be allowed to control too many parts of the internet.
hopefully this doesn’t affect my youtube adblock. i may just have to go outside and play if i’m forced to watch ads. haha

Switched to firefox two years ago when they started pulling this shit. haven’t looked back. I don’t pay for internet service to watch strobing ads that create security vulnerabilities in my system on every single page.
People that paid attention to what google was doing already moved. Now the average user is going to be waking up to the fact that their favorite ad blockers no longer work on chrome.

When to Firefox years ago when I noticed Chrome locking up my SDR setup and pinning the CPU at 100% for over a minute. Never mind the ram usage. Chrome is gross.

I do my work in Chrome for the sake of keeping bookmarks/accounts separate and because chrome is the browser websites are the least likely to have issues with. But otherwise I do everything in Firefox, and if I ever accidentally look something up in chrome while I’m working I immediately regret it. So much of the web is basically unusable at this point if you don’t have ad blockers, I don’t understand how people do it.

Google needs to remember that users are not loyal to web browsers. It’s a few clicks to use Firefox or Opera instead.
I switched from chrome to Firefox the other month. It works just well, only noticeable difference is being able to make any video a pop out, which is really handy.

Ublock origin is fresh in Firefox and blocks YouTube ads well

I’ve fully switched to Firefox two years ago.
It’s my internet connection, it is still up to me to decide which content I want to download while browsing.
Chrome lived long enough to become Internet Explorer.

fixed that for you. I wouldn’t have a problem with ads if they weren’t breaking the ability to browse and pushing out malware and notification scam scares. I work IT and the frequency my client get fake antivirus alerts via adverts is insane.
