The government’s plan to realign excise duties on diesel

The measure included in the Structural Budget Plan aims to recover three billion and one hundred million euros. “We demand that excise duties be progressively abolished,” thundered the leader of the Brothers of Italy in 2019 in a video shot at a petrol station. In 2018 Matteo Salvini appeared in a similar video in which he similarly promised a clear cut in excise duties.
