While the Castillo de San Marcos is the oldest building originally built in Florida the [St. Bernard de Clairvaux Church](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Bernard_de_Clairvaux_Church) is much older (12th century) and was relocated from its original location in Spain.

I get trying to show the county level placement of each building, but this really is just a table with 50 unique colors. Why not do a decadal/bi-decadal gradient from old to new and color in the entire state?

This probably makes most of the rest of the world laugh at how young these structures are in comparison to theirs.

If Mesa Verde Cliff Palace is Colorado’s, why not Pueblo Bonito or another older structure for New Mexico? Or Casa Grande or Montezuma’s Castle for Arizona? Seems arbitrary as to what counts as a building.

LOL their “old” is laughably young for others

This may stretch many people’s definition of “building,” but earthen mounds are often buildings.
Many of them have internal structures, for instance some of the mounds at Mound City in Chillicothe, Ohio are built around what amounts to be a cabin.
BUT, even more than that, mounds have structural layers in order to support themselves. Monk’s Mound in Illinois, is on the bleeding edge of what is possible without more conventional structure, but it’s also a third of the height of the Great Pyramid of Giza with the same footprint. Parts of that mound have collapsed, but when it was constructed it would have supported a temple structure on top.

I looked up my state (Vermont), and it wasn’t remotely correct, so where exactly is this data coming from?

Ummm… Savannah, GA was founded in 1733, wouldn’t the oldest building be there?

Wisconsin is incorrect! We have the St. Joan of Arc Chapel on the Marquette campus in milwaukee, which was technically built in 1420

Weird, I grew up in South London, and I used to walk through the cemetery a couple of times a week and there were gravestones there from the 1100s.. so this is all really odd for me. Surely there are SOME undated Native American structures??
