  1. At this time (1919) Palestine had very recently been taken over by the British after being controlled by the Ottoman Empire for the last 400+ years.

“Palestine” was the name of the region for many cultures before the destruction of the second temple, used by Herodotus to refer to the region between Phoenicia and Egypt, and derived from the Philistines (whom the Egyptians called Peleset) who were thought to be of Hellenic origin. On a side note, current Palestinian Arab population is largely a genetic descendant of bronze age canaanites, and very little genetic trace of Philistines remain.

  3. For some additional ancient context, since Israel will be brought up:  The ancient Kingdom of Israel lasted for **a total of 343 years**, divided into three periods:

United Kingdom of Israel: This period lasted from 1050–930 BCE (roughly 3,000 years ago) and was ruled by kings Saul, David, and Solomon

Northern Kingdom of Israel: This period lasted from 930–722 BCE and was ruled by 19 kings

Southern Kingdom of Judah: This period lasted from 930–587 BCE and was ruled by kings of the Davidic dynasty

The Kingdom of Israel was divided into two kingdoms after the death of King Solomon in 930 BCE. The northern kingdom was called Israel and was made up of the territories of the 10 northern tribes.

The southern kingdom was called Judah and was made up of the territories of the tribes of Judah and Benjamin.

The Kingdom of Israel was destroyed by the Assyrians in 722 BCE (~2,700 years ago), and the Kingdom of Judah was conquered by the Babylonians in 586 BCE. (~2,500 years ago)

The destruction of the First Temple in Jerusalem marked the beginning of the Jewish Diaspora.

Goodnight everyone! For reference, I was able to get the book from a street vendor in Amman, Jordan. By the notes on the book, it seems to have been passed to different people since its making. Still had to pay a hefty 50$ for it.

Before people start spouting uneducated and ahistorical statements, I’ll say this:
The name Palestine is simply an exonym for the Land of Israel given to it by the Greeks and later used by the Romans (in the same way that Japanese natives refer to their country as Nippon). It was and is always called the Land of Israel by its natives. A region within it is even now still known as Judea and is the namesake of the Jews.
There were 3 distinct indipendent Jewish states in Israel prior to 1948, as well as multiple cliant states of larger empires that were locally ruled by the native Jews (such as the Persian Medinat Yehud). All the while, Jews lived in the land continuously for 4,000 years (while the numbers fluctuated due to expulsions and genocides it never was 0).
All Jews in the world trace their genetics, identity, religion, and culture to the Land of Israel. The Jewish ethnoreligion/culture is completely tied to the land (the Jewish holidays and callender are even based on the aggracultural seasons of the Land of Israel, corresponding to different plantings and harvests).
Insisting that Jews are not tied to this land is ahistorical, antisemtic, and completely delusional.
