  1. The standard flow of traffic on these freeways has long been 120 if there’s no congestion and the weather is good. This change is just reflecting reality.

It’s 110 from Grimsby to St. Catherine’s, and I don’t think anyone notices. Speeds are between 100 and what the car will do.

  3. How is that going to help with the congestion? Fixed throughput + increasing number of cars > congestion.

  4. Does this apply to semis and large trucks too? They currently have a speed limiter of 105km?

  5. I remember in the Harris years there was a traffic study done and found that the speed limit on 400 series highways could be raised to 135 and it would actually decrease accidents. But the province couldn’t afford the lost ticket revenue.

You could increase the speed limit to 200 but I’m still going to be traveling at 30km/h on the 401 come 3:00 Monday through Friday

So…. Everywhere then? Since the 400 series highways were designed for 120 after all.

This could work, sell booze at gas stations > raise speed limits> cut health care = more open rental opportunities!
