I don’t think that this makes much sense. This chart is just trying to represent which countries border one another? The USA also borders Russia (at Alaska) and should be closer to the South Pacific Islands (via Hawaii). The same for France, which has Departements (effectively states or provinces, not just territories) in the Caribbean, South America and the Pacific.

Why isn’t the Black Sea connected to the Mediterranean? It looks like a big lake here like the Caspian Sea. The connection should either go through Turkey, or, if you count the European part of Turkey as an “exclave” (exclaves are excluded according to the legend), between Greece and Turkey, but that would be weird because Istanbul is on both sides. But really exclaves should just be included.
